As we wind down the holidays, retailers and brands start looking towards the beginning of 2015 and all the trade shows they’ll be attending. This month, we want to give our readers a little insight into what the International Lingerie Show (ILS) is planning for 2015 with our interview with the show’s director, Jeff Yunis. The next show is slated for March 30th – April 1st, 2015 at the Rio Hotel. Read on for more details:
Jeff, could you give our readers a sneak peek at what to expect at the next edition of ILS?
The show will be March 30th – April 1st 2015 at the RIO in Las Vegas. We will have all of the majors back along with over a dozen new lines to help spice up inventories.
How many brands are currently slated to exhibit? Are there any new-to-ILS brands to put on our readers’ radars?
Right now we have about 200 exhibitors lined up including brands from Europe, Australia, China and Pakistan. These international lines have no U.S. salesman and are prepared to take small orders. If buyers want things that their competitors do not have, this is their chance.
The August show is scheduled a bit earlier this year, could you tell us a bit about the change?
We normally run early to mid September, but this year Labor Day is late and the Jewish Holidays are early, pretty much forcing us into late September which is hard on buyers selling Halloween. We were able to switch dates with another group (for a fair amount of money) so that we could get dates that will be better for buyers.

For some of the brands reading this, and have never exhibited with ILS, can you give us a list and breakdown of the buyers that attend ILS?
Most of our buyers come from individual specialty stores from all over the U.S. and Canada. We also get buyers from about 20 countries worldwide. We always invite potential exhibitors to visit a show to see what it is all about. Many think of us as the “naughty” show because of the adult products… but apparel is what we are about. It always amazes me that so many companies that I know could do very well, won’t even come to look at what happens at ILS.
We’ve noticed that the ILS Social Media has increased its activity, could you tell us a bit about this and how ILS uses social media to help exhibitors and buyers?
It took me a while to realize how important this has become. Perhaps it’s because of my age. We hired someone familiar with our industry to update social media on a daily basis. What we need now is for the exhibitors to realize how important it is to post with us. The buyers are there and hungry for updates.
Any other new developments planned for 2015?
Halloween is still important and our Halloween costume area will be there. We are planning some new things for September along with the date change, but I’d rather keep that close to the vest until unveiled at the April show.
